Initially at E3 heard from Hello Games on No Man's Sky in how the world was going to be infinite in size. Now, obviously it's not "infinite" but it's just obnoxiously big. In an interview with IGN, Hello Games stated that they used a 32 bit algorithm number to program the game. In doing so, if you spent only one single second on each planet in the game it would take you 4-5 thousand years to see them all. "With that 32-bit number it would take you four or five thousand years to see every planet if you spent only a second on each one," according to Hello.
Oh no! But wait! That's not all. They are now using a 64 bit number and you better get your coffee ready on this one. With the new calculations, it will take you 5 billion years to see every planet in No Man's Sky spending only one second on each one. YES. That is obnoxious. I'm guessing a Platinum is out of the question then on this game, huh?
We'll see as by all accounts No Man's Sky looks great and it will be coming to PC followed by PS4in 2015.
