Kingdom Come: Deliverance beta is live now on PC

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance beta is now live on PC. Backers should already have the code from the game's Kickstarter, but you can also buy your way in now if you haven't done so already.

The game takes place in medieval times, specifically Bohemia 1403. There is no magic or fantasy in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and instead the game focuses on up close battle in the fields. Known for its "living world", the game features interactive 'smart' NPC's that react to the world around them. If an NPC works outside and it is raining, he or she may decide to just stay home instead. So, if you need to speak to them under one of these circumstances, it opens up a whole new branching dialogue to the game.

Combat is what Kingdom Come: Deliverance is mostly known. Swords, maces, daggers all take place from a first person view with a focus on player movement. In our interview with Warhorse Studios CEO Dan Vavra in 2014, he spoke on some of their goals while developing the full game. Due out for PC this Summer, the game may be delayed until later in the year in order to release simultaneously with both PS4 and Xbox One. The studio is still working out details with its publisher and will update us as things change.

Some of the new features in the beta over the alpha include

  • First introduction to the epic story of Kingdom Come: Deliverance
  • Several new fully-fledged quests with multiple solutions
  • First important historical battle
  • New engaging interactions with NPC’s
  • Expanded stealth system - visibility, takedowns, poisoning, sabotage and disguises
  • More weapon choices: short sword, long sword, shield, axes and maces
  • Huge enlargement of the map compared to Alpha release
  • New villages, castles and deep forests
  • New dynamic weather system
  • First motion-captured cut-scenes
  • Introduction of crime system and lock picking
  • New sword-fighting techniques
