Kirby, Monster Hunter, Star Fox Zero and all of today's Nintendo Direct recap

 

Unfortunately no, there was no news on the fabled NX in this Direct. Sorry.

Nintendo focused on many of its upcoming Summer releases for this year on both Wii U and 3DS with today's Direct. There were many details on a bunch of games, so we wrapped up the most important ones for you below. 

Star Fox Zero - April 22nd

There will be teleporters in the game for the first time. These will allow you to travel to both other areas of the level as well as totally new areas. Each level will also have multiple ways to beat it. During various part of a level, you can choose to branch off to a different path. This will open up new areas of the level and end in a boss battle with a completely different enemy. The Fox amiibo can be tapped onto the game in order to enable the original SNES version of his ship in this new game.

A new two player battle mode is enabled and will let two players simultaneously with both the gamepad and controller. It comes with a brand new game, Star Fox Guard, and will be in the eShop and physical release on April 22nd. 

Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games 

Will include various new games like rhythm gymnastics and venues modeled after the ones in Rio themselves. Both Wii U release on June 24th with 3DS March 16th. 

Splatoon 

Gear update abilities, matchmaking upgrades online both added this month. First update, which will also include recommended gear sets by Sheldon, will be out March 8th. The second one will be out in April.

Lost Reavers - April 14th beta, 28th full version

Brand new IP, online cooperative action game. Third person action/shooter game pits players in various lands such as Egypt on a hunt for treasure. Enemies include the undead and other various monsters. Character and weaspon leveling is a feature.

Mini Mario and friends amiibo challenge

New game, digital only, available as a free title on the Eshop. Beginning on March 25th, anyone who owns an amiibo can download the game and play. Otherwise, you'll need to wait until April 28th. Each amiibo you tap to the game will allow you to play up to 10 levels with that character in game. Various new challenges and abilities will be present for each character, ensuring a new experience with each amiibo

SNES Games

Available now on 3DS for the first time. Mort titles are being added on March 24th with a third set on April 14th. Check the Eshop for new updates

Dragon Quest VII Fragments of Forgotten Past

Totally rebuilt version of the game for 3DS. New worlds, character builds and story mode. Auster wants more than fishing in the game and embarks with Maribel on a brand new journey

Metroid Prime Federation Force - Spring

Production originallly began in 2009 for the DSi and was abandoned when the power was not deemed enough for the game. Once the New 3DS was introduced, they began production on the game again. This new game pits the galactic federation vs. the space pirates for the first time. You will be open to choose your own class, like assault or healer, by carrying different items for use in battle. It deals with Project Golem. Weaponized armor was made from Samus' tech and these marines became the Federation Force. Their first mission is to go to the Bermuda system on planet Excelsior and reclaim an abandoned outpost, which became desolate after an meteor induced ice age. 3DS

Monster Hunter Generations - 3DS

Was originally Monster Hunter X, will feature all new characters and story line. You will be able to get in game bonus items only available if you have a Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate save file on your 3DS. Monster Hunter4 Ultimate is also available for $19.99 on the eshop for the next 48 hours as a special bonus announcement of this new game. An armor set based on Marth of Fire Emblem will also be included in the game as well. 

Kirby Planet Robobot - June 10th

For the first time ever you will be able to get XP and level up your abilities in a Kirby game. Amiibo figures will provide special abilities; Mario provides a fire ability, Link provides a sword to Kirby, etc. A new technology lets Kirby control a Robobot with 10 different copy features including a UFO feature. New amiibo are being released in the Kirby, Meta Knight, King Dede and Waddle Dee. 

Unfortunately no NX news was revealed, but more is scheduled in Spring with an unknown date.
