Xbox Live Gold users in Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil are getting a 40% increase in their subscription cost. , a Latin American based Xbox site, their editors have received emails from Microsoft indicating the price adjustment. This will also be in effect on top of the 50% increase Mexico has already seen in their monthly dues.
The silver lining, if their is one, is that the adjustment won't go into effect until February 18th, 2016. If you are in the impacted areas, you can still renew your subscription now at the discounted rate. Since the renewals begin after the end of your membership and not when you actually renew them, you'll gain an entire year on the low price. In reality, you're simply amortizing the distribution but hey, least you get to hold onto your own money longer.
