All Xbox One standard controllers now have button remapping

Microsoft announced today that the much requested button remapping feature on Xbox One is finally available on standard controllers.

Initially thought to be only a feature available on the new Elite controller, Microsoft has added the option for all users to be able to customize exactly how the controllers function. There are three ways to set it up which can be found by

  1. Settings / Kinect & Devices / Devices & Accessories
  2. Settings / Ease of access / Button mapping
  3. Launch the Xbox Accessories app directly

The button remapping uses a swap feature. So if you switch out X with A then A automatically becomes X. If you wanted Y to be X however, then you'll need to do a couple switches to get it to your liking. Any official Microsoft controller or third party wired controller will be able to use the button remapping feature. It will, however, be console specific. If you go to a friend's house or get another console you'll need to do it all over again.

PC functionality is coming soon but for now the feature is only available on Xbox One consoles. It's a pretty straight forward process. If you don't have the Xbox Accessories app, don't worry as step 1 above takes less than a minute to get going. What games are you going to remap for? Let us know
