After announcing its partnership with DeNA earlier this year, Nintendo has finally released information on its first mobile game which will be coming next year.
Called Miitomo, the game is of course based around the company's Mii figures. Tied to your Nintendo account, you will use your Mii to communicate and talk to the Mii's of your friends and other contacts that you have. When you create your Mii, you will need to answer various questions about yourself and these answers will be shared with your registered friends. These friends will need to be registered and aren't limited to the ones solely in your contacts list.
In conjunction with the releases of Miitomo, Nintendo has changed the Club Nintendo to Nintendo Account. As part of this change, you will now be able to buy games online and they will automatically download to both your Wii U and 3DS. A new rewards system is also included which will allow you to earn points from things such as purchasing games as well as just playing the games. Based on the games you play and personal information, Nintendo will send you rewards and discounts on games and items. These discounts and rewards will also be applied to real life areas such as movie theaters and theme parks.
The most interesting part of Nintendo's announcement, however, is not a game. It is that there save game data will be saved to the cloud rather than simply on your individual Wii U or 3DS. This will allow for games' saved data to be cross saved so if you play Smash Bros on Wii U and decide to buy the 3DS version much later, all of your data will be there for you so you don't need to start all over.
As you can tell, it will work for the new smart devices next year as well which will be a huge implementation and advantage for Nintendo when their library of games increases.
